Nocturne
Site for a listening room and the label it grew into.
Open the live site
The brief
Forty chairs, one pair of horns, doors at ten in the evening. Nocturne wanted a site that behaved like the room: dark, unhurried, faintly strict. It also wanted people to hear something before they came — without sending a hundred megabytes of audio to a phone on the last tram home.
What we did
- Nocturne Radio: a generative ambient patch built on the Web Audio API
- Release previews synthesised from a seed — the same track draws the same shape every time
- A visualiser driven by the real analyser node, not a decorative loop
- Nothing plays until someone asks; nothing keeps playing once they leave
Where it landed
0audio files shipped
9previews, all synthesised
04:00when the room closes
The room has one rule about phones. The site keeps to the spirit of it.
